Jannie Underhay    (Viticulturist)

Jannie Underhay grew up on a fruit farm in the Tulbagh Valley.  It was here that he had his first encounter with production of high quality fruit and grapes under the supervision of his father, Hansa Underhay.

Jannie went to school at Tulbagh High School, where he matriculated in 1996.  Afterwards he went to the University of Stellenbosch, where he began his studies in Viticulture and Oenology.  By 2002 he had completed B Sc. Agric (Viticulture and Oenology) and Hons Agric (Viticulture).

Jannie started working at Simonsvlei in December 2002 and is currently conducting his fifth harvest at Simonsvlei International.  During his employment at Simonsvlei International, he also completed a Programme in Wine Management at the Business School of the University of Stellenbosch.
