| Biggest wine bottle in
the world? | |

We’d
like to lay claim to having the biggest bottle in the world. Much more
exciting than “the world’s biggest ball of twine”, or “the world’s largest
frying pan” (wouldn’t you agree?), at 12.5 metres tall and with a 60,000+
litre capacity, surely there can be no bigger wine bottle anywhere!
There
is no need for directions to our wine cellar, because standing proud and tall
just off the N1 highway, dressed in our flagship label and boasting about our
Shiraz, ‘Big Bottle’ is a landmark that can’t be missed. To those
world-travelling wine lovers who have been privileged enough to visit South Africa ’s beautiful Paarl wine region, our big bottle should be no strange sight.
By now
you are probably wondering if it is filled with the lovely wine we produce at
Simonsvlei Winery. Unfortunately that would probably mean that we’d have to
fish drunken students from its depths every morning! No, to all who visit
our cellar, our big bottle holds the promise of good things to come. And
they do!
We
would like your comments about our big bottle, or the biggest bottle you have
seen elsewhere, and send your pictures to us at info@simonsvlei.co.za. Visit our big
bottle the next time you are in the area. You’re most welcome.
