Simonsvlei’s social
responsibility programme, Sima Kunye, was put in place
in 2000. Sima Kunye’s objective is teaching basic reading- and writing
skills to unskilled and semi-skilled workers. This programme includes a
cellar education course – focusing on basic viticulture and winemaking
skills.
Simonsvlei is a
concerned eco-citizen and serious about protecting and caring for the rare
wetland on its property. The vlei
or wetland is located between the N1 highway and the busy R101.

With the appointment of Francois van Zyl, Simonsvlei’s Cellar Master and Production Manager, as Director: Production, the Board of Directors of this well-known wine cellar showed their intent to re-establish Simonsvlei as the industry leader in quality and innovation, as in the days of the late iconic wine genius, Oom Sarel Rossouw.
